How to Launch a New Product with a $0 Marketing Budget.

A zero-budget launch is not a cheaper version of a funded one. It is a different plan, and the mistake most teams make is running the funded plan slowly instead of running the unfunded plan properly.

The constraint is not money. It is that you cannot buy attention, so you have to be worth some.

Launch to a list, not to the public

A hundred people who asked to hear from you will out-perform a hundred thousand who did not, every single time. Spend the eight weeks before launch building that list by being useful in the places your buyers already are, and treat launch day as an email rather than an event.

Give away the thing that costs you nothing

Every company knows something its market would pay for and can publish for free — a benchmark, a template, a teardown, the numbers from your own last campaign. Publishing it buys attention with time rather than budget, and the audience it brings is self-selecting.

  • Pick one channel and be genuinely present on it
  • Publish the thing your competitors keep behind a form
  • Ask twenty customers for an introduction, individually
  • Make the product easy to show, not just easy to describe

What to skip

Skip the press release, the launch video and the paid influencer post. On no budget they are all the same trade — a large amount of time for a single day of noise — and none of them compounds.

Skip the second channel until the first one works. Two half-tended channels reliably beat neither.
